Whether you're 7 or 70, it's
never too late to learn how to
play an instrument!
I am Mike Miller and wish to extend you a warm welcome to my music website. My family and I moved to Boonsboro in November of 2009 after living for some time in Burkittsville, Maryland.
Through the years, I have taught at a number of elementary schools ranging in size and diversity. As a teacher from Frederick County Schools, I have experience in both instrumental and vocal music at the elementary level.
Both vocal and instrumental lessons are offered to the Hagerstown, Frederick and Shepherdstown (WVA) areas. Lessons are given in my home at 107 Saint Paul Street, Boonsboro, Maryland and also offered at my Frederick studio located in the Francis Scott Key Mall at the “Duet With Music” store. My music instruction is unique in that I provide a comprehensive study in both applied vocal and instrumental lessons by combining music theory such as note recognition, rhythm, chord structure and vocal technique as well as other theoretical concepts to the applied instrument. In addition, I like to include some style and interpretation about repertoire being studied for a very well rounded music experience. Recently, I have employed the use of the iPad to help students learn more effectively. Most students are beginners and range in ages 7 to 70! Student beginners are provided with a very strong music foundation to fully prepare them for more advanced music training. Composition lessons are available for students interested in writing their own music with my guidance. There is also opportunity for student recitals either as a group or individual.
